Here is something I heard about a little while back and have been doing over the last week or so. It’s a very simple technique that should release any tension in your feet (and throughout your body).
It simply involves rolling a tennis ball on the sole of your feet. The technical term for this type of exercise is ‘Myofascial Release Therapy’.
I usually do this in the morning, but you can do it at whatever time is convenient.
All you need to do is grab a tennis ball, and while either standing or sitting down you just need to spend a couple minutes rolling the ball along the sole of your foot. Then repeat again with the opposite foot.
The way I do it is,
- Start from the big toe down to your heel.
- Start again from your middle toes down to your heel.
- Start again from the outside of your foot down to your heel.
- Repeat for opposite foot.
Obviously you don’t want to overdo it and don’t do it with a lot of pressure if it is causing you any pain. Simply just ease into it and relax your feet. As you progress, you can modify the pressure and the duration based on your comfort levels. I don’t think the idea here is to cause any pain, rather just to loosen up the muscles.
As with any exercise, take precaution, don’t rush into it and slowly increase the difficulty levels if you feel comfortable. Hopefully this exercise can help you out!
Would love to hear how you guys go. Take care!
